Time to start planning your 2013 seed portfolio. As we all know with the drought through the whole US, seed production will be down at least 30%, even with alot of the corn being under irrigation. Growers should book their needs as soon as possible. That is get written orders for booking or prepay payment from your RUC agronomist. The premium traits will not last long !!! RUC's allotment of Corn for 2013 should be at 110% of last year, which means we be able to take care of current customers and the increases they may have. With the major corn distributors telling us that they will probably not take returns in 2013. So in turn on our seed order forms we will take only 10% return after December 25, 2012. Which means you have until December 25, 2012 to cancel your seed order.
Soybean seed we are told will be short this year also. Alot of our seed stock is grown in Grand Forks, Traill, Cass and Richland counties. So everybody knows the conditions in Cass county which I am told production after grade out will be about 60% of normal at best. Again RUC should have adequate supply of Soybeans for our growers demands. With the the return policies RUC will only take back 10% return on Soybeans after December 25, 2012. This is what we are being told by our distributors on return policies for 2013.
Contact your RUC agronomist today for your seed needs for the 2013 season !!!!
